ALFA Network AWUS036H. Have you tweaked drivers for NHR? Hi, Dont know if you have sorted the adapter alfa network awus036h power control now, alfa network awus036h power control I had the same troubles. Enotria Public which is what i mainy use cuz its faster or uptownfreewifi which are both set to ‘public’.

Hi, Like the title says. I've been having connectivity problems. I am using Windows 7 Home premium SP1 (x86). I can connect fine and after a (seemingly random) amount of time the connection will drop (at least according to windows). I can also easily reconnect without a problem, but it will not pick back up the connection automatically, which is a problem because I use programs that need to access the internet and Often leave large files to download while I'm sleeping or not home.

So If I'm not sitting at my computer to manually reconnect, then whatever i'm trying to accomplish doesn't get done. I'm using the ALFA AWUS036H USB wifi adapter. I had previously been running windows XP and this same thing would happen (though, much less often) but when it happened in XP it would automatically reconnect in a few seconds. Free iranian movie download sites.

I downloaded the drivers from ALFA's website incase the ones on disk were not up to date, and I tried both of them (they have a 'normal' and 'power control driver' option) and the problem remains. Also, I've never used an external wifi adapter before so I'm not sure if its supposed to work this way, but there are 2 'signal strength meters' in the system tray the standard windows one that you can click on and see available networks or go to windows 'network and sharing center' and then there is the ALFA one that you can click on and it takes you to the ALFA wireless LAN utility, where you can also get a list of available networks. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would really really appreciate the help. Also below I'm going to post step by step of whats going on with pics so its pefectly clear. According to windows there is a problem with the connection, however according to the ALFA wireless LAN utility, the connection is fine (green bars means good connection, red bars means no connection) When clicking on the Windows 'signal strength indicator' in the system tray, it shows 1 of 2 different problems (notice the differences that I've highlighted with red boxes).

No matter which one happens I can NOT access the internet. Despite the 'problems' shown above, the ALFA wireless LAN utility shows that its still connected (while windows is showing a connection problem) To reconnect I switch to the 'profile' tab (which is just a list of neworks that i've previously connected to) and double click on the network. In this case it will be Enotria Public.

The same one that (according to the ALFA wireless LAN utility) I'm already connected too After clicking on the network, the ALFA wireless LAN utility 'signal indicator' in the system tray will briefly turn red (signaling NO connection) while it 'reconnects'. Then it will turn back to green, and Windows network manager/signal indicator (whatever you call it) will proceed to reconnect as well. After this happens, all is good and I'm reconnected and can access the internet. And here is Windows showing everything is all good. And here is ALFA wireless LAN utility showing everything is all good. One last thing that really throws me off.

As you can see in pics above the ALFA wireless LAN utility is always connected, and it never drops the connection but even so, the internet will not work when Windows drops the connection. However, When reconnecting I can access the internet BEFORE Windows reconnects.

(I still have to reconnect as described above, but after I do so I can access the internet before windows FINISHES reconnecting) The tab shown in this picture was a web page that I loaded BEFORE Windows ever reconnected, and it is a page that I have NEVER viewed before, so its not just loading it from cache. I have exact same adapter. It's horrible. Yes it catches connections from 500+ feet away with a 98% signal, but the throughput is terrible. The problem for me is when ever I use this adapter, it connects fine and stays connected, but when I try to access any website, it takes 20-30 seconds just to go to the website (any website) and then it can take up to a minute to load a simple picture-less/content-less web page.

I think it's a drivers issue. Didn't get any answers from their tech support. Do you have the older 500mW model or the upgraded 1000mW? Which draws 1w from the USB port. I have the 1000mW model and I can't even use it with a single usb connection. I either have to hook it up with a USB Y cable that hooks up to two USB ports, or use it through a USB hub.

Mine is the 1W version and it's using a 7dBi panel antenna. The hardware is fine. Like I said this wasn't an issue in XP only once I started using 7 did it become an issue. I have mine connected with only one USB 2.0 port and it stays powered up without a problem (even when using all 3 USB ports on my laptop simultaneously).

I get decent throughput. Web pages load quickly. I can stream HD video (youtube, etc) sometimes without buffering, and I can stream HD video 1080P through my router to my TV. Was just downloading @ 800 kb/s yesterday. Now, if only I could get it to stop dropping the connection. Or at least if it does, to automatically reconnect.

1 - Do you have another device to test with, just to confirm the Wireless Network is perfectly fine? I doubt it is the network but just want to see if you have confirmation. 2 - If it's not the network, I agree it seems like a driver issue. When it comes to problems like that, often you're stuck trying all the different driver options to see if any will work.

Try the Vista drivers. If it doesn't work, try installing them in Vista compatibility mode with elevated privileges. Try the XP drivers. Try installing the XP drivers in XP compatibility mode with elevated privileges. 3 - Other than that I would contact Alfa support. See if they can help in any way.

The reason the Alfa software doesn't show a problem when Windows does, is because it's not as thorough. Windows indicates you are connected to a Wireless Network that does not have Internet access. Alfa indicates you are connected to a Wireless Network. Both are correct; Windows just tries one additional level of testing. Most users don't care if they are connected to WiFi if they don't have Internet access, which is why Windows does the additional test for Internet access. Personally I never use the third-party wireless software if I can avoid it. As long as the driver is there, Windows does perfectly fine and dandy for me.

The third-party software always causes unexpected problems just because every different third-party has different software. I don't see why anyone should learn 30 different applications when it is built into the damn OS in the first place. Sometimes you're stuck, though, and it won't easily install the driver without the software. 1 - Do you have another device to test with, just to confirm the Wireless Network is perfectly fine? Click to expand.1 - Well, the only other device I have is the onboard wifi adapter, but I usually can't connect with that because of its range. Hence the external wifi adapter with 7dBi panel antenna. But I don't think its the network(s) because there are 2 free networks in range and it happens with both of them. Also it doesn't happen in XP with same hardware and networks (or at least it auto reconnects) 2 - Well I did download the drivers from the website (not sure if they're same or newer, than included ones) and they have the 'normal' and 'power control drivers' what ever that means. Also when installing from the disk it asks you if you wanna use FCC or CE drivers.

But when you download from the website it doesn't ask you. Also there is an included video tutorial on how to install.

I looked it over and they show yet another option that asks you 'europe 100mW driver' or '1W driver'. Must be old video or something? EDIT: Just found that the FCC=Normal driver and the EC=power control driver. Not sure why they name them different just causes confusion.

Not sure what the difference is either. FROM WEBSITE: FROM CD (what i see): FROM VIDEO TUTORIAL. I also have an update, some more info on the problem. The other day while searching youtube for this particular wifi adapter I saw a driver install video where the guy just did it through the device manager and that installed the driver without the ALFA wireless LAN utilitiy.

So I uninstalled the ALFA wireless LAN utility and it also uninstalled the driver. Then I used the method I just mentioned.

Through device manager which installed the driver only and connected with the regular windows network manager. First of all it seemed harder to connect. But then it seemed like it was going to work. Got disconnected numerous times with 1 of 2 error messages (pics attached below) So I reinstalled the ALFA wireless LAN utility. I don't think anything is actually wrong with the adapter because I have the 500mW Alfa and it's nothing short of miraculous for range extension and connections.

Having said that, I think you should try re-installing the driver. Then disable your built-in wifi adapter by right-clicking on that connection icon in the taskbar. Then open the Alfa interface and tick the 'Use Wireless Zero' box. Now try to connect to your favorite available network. You shouldn't have any more problems connecting to any site after this. A link to the Alfa driver download page can be found. A video walk through is at the bottom of the page. The Alfa AWUS036H USB adapter/dongle is a good USB adapter that has been around for many years. Recently when I tried to use The it wouldn’t work. After playing around a bit I installed the drivers manually. Here are the steps. 1If you don’t have the AWUS036H Windows 7 64 bit driver you can download it from Alfa here. 2Extract the folder if you had to downloaded it.

3The files we need are located in the Win7X64 folder which is under RTL8287 folder. Don’t click on the install files simply know were there are. 4Be sure the adapter is plugged in and go to Device Manager by typing it in the bottom box. Click on it when it comes up. 5Click the arrow on Network Adapters and you should see the Alfa adapter there. It most likely has a yellow icon indicating a problem.

Click on the Alfa adapter. (I already fixed the problem so it is showing fine in the picture) 6A box will come up click the Update Driver tab.

7Click the bottom but that says Browse my computer for driver software. 8 Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. 9Click Have Disk 10Click the browse button and point it to the Win7x64 folder that contains the drivers. It is located under RTL8187–Win7X64 11After selecting the file click OK than Next and the driver will install. Your Alfa AWUS036H USB adapter should now work with Windows 10. ↓. BILAL ok @Tim go to control panel - open select network and sharing center, you will see on the left side of the page change adapter setting click that option now you will see all the networks shares on your computer, the recent you are using is wifi with the name Broadband underneath; and the Alpha adaptor propbably wifi2 with written RealTec RT 187. First disable the wifi Broadband which is already connected, then right click on the 2nd with the name of Realtek RT18. And enable it, and it will work inshAllah.
